Japan is a homogeneous society .Being japanese is not a nationality, its race .Foreigners who don't look japanese will always be treated differently. I'm caucasian, so even though i'm fluent in japanese i gets the special "gaijin" menu when i visit a restaurant. People answer my question in fluent japanese with broken english. Peoplesay they don't mean anything but it's almost ss if to say, you're different and i want to reminds you that you're different ".
